Arup Roy Elected TMC Chairperson as Rebels Restructure Party

A special session of the All India Trinamool Congress was held where delegates unanimously elected senior leader Arup Roy as the party's new Chairperson. A 30-member National Working Committee (NWC) was also constituted, featuring prominent leaders including Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas, Rathin Ghosh, Sabina Yasmin, Ritabrata Banerjee, Javed Khan and Sandipan Saha. The rebel faction announced plans to appoint district presidents and form district committees across West Bengal. Leader of Opposition Ritabrata Banerjee reiterated that the group wants Mamata Banerjee to continue as a mentor and guide rather than hold an active leadership role within the party.
