Digha Jagannath Temple Drops ‘Dham’ Title After Odisha's Request

West Bengal has agreed to remove the word "Dham" from the newly established Digha Jagannath Temple following a formal request from Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, conveyed through Puri MP Sambit Patra. The Odisha government maintained that the title "Jagannath Dham" holds exclusive spiritual and historical significance for the centuries-old Jagannath Temple in Puri, one of Hinduism's sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Accepting the request, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that the temple will now be known as Shri Jagannath Temple, Digha, while also confirming that ISKCON will manage the temple's daily worship, religious rituals, and overall maintenance.
