The Election Commission has allotted separate names and electoral symbols to the rival Trinamool Congress factions. Mamata Banerjee’s group will contest as Mamata All India Trinamool Congress with the Football Player symbol, while Arup Roy’s faction has been named Democratic Trinamool Congress and allotted the Envelope symbol. Both groups will be recognised political parties in West Bengal, Meghalaya and Tripura.
