India marked a historic milestone in 2026 as its first batch of female cadets trained at the National Defence Academy was commissioned as officers into the Army, Navy and Air Force. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also highlighted the Samudra Parikrama expedition, in which nine female officers aboard INSV Tarini covered 25,500 nautical miles across four oceans in 314 days.
