The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has begun monitoring mine-clearing operations near Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant following a localized ceasefire aimed at ensuring nuclear safety. The de-mining work will allow repairs to the plant’s critical 750-kilovolt power line to begin in the coming days. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said the agency is taking an expanded role by overseeing both de-mining and repair activities, reaffirming its commitment to preventing a nuclear accident amid the ongoing military conflict.
