Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the remarkable growth of BRICS since its launch in 2006. He said the grouping has expanded from four countries to a 21-country family including BRICS members and partners. Today, BRICS represents around 50% of the world’s population, 40% of global GDP and more than 25% of global trade. PM Modi noted that while global GDP grew about 2.5 times, the combined BRICS economy expanded approximately 4.5 times.
