Roy claimed he received repeated threats against himself and his family, was summoned by Kolkata Police despite medical issues, and had to seek relief from the Calcutta High Court. He said he delayed resigning from the TMC due to fears for his life, alleging an atmosphere of fear and political violence in West Bengal.
