The Union Cabinet has approved the comprehensive GOBARdhan Scheme to accelerate Compressed Biogas (CBG) production through a six-pillar framework. The scheme provides assured offtake, price stability, CAPEX support, pipeline infrastructure, MSME credit guarantees, and innovation incentives. It aims to increase CBG production tenfold over the next decade, contribute ₹75,000 crore to India's GDP, generate 1.5 lakh jobs, and strengthen the country's clean energy ecosystem by integrating biogas with existing city gas and PNG networks.
